GCCI’s newly elected Executive Management Committee pays courtesy visit to the Private Sector Commission

On April 4, 2023, the Executive Management Committee (EMC) of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) paid a courtesy visit to the Private Sector Commission (PSC) to introduce their newly elected executives. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship between the two organizations and discuss ways to further develop the local private sector.

During the introductory meeting, Mr. Paul Cheong, the outgoing Chairman of the PSC, congratulated the newly elected EMC and expressed the organization’s willingness to continue working in conjunction with GCCI. Mr. Cheong also acknowledged the Chamber’s contribution to private sector development and expressed his excitement to see both organizations work together to ensure Guyanese businesses are given the chance to flourish.

In response, Mr. Kester Hutson, President of the GCCI, thanked the PSC for their support over the years through mentorship and collaboration. He emphasized that the two entities share a common goal and that the GCCI aims to add value to its members and the nation at large.

All parties present highlighted the importance of working together through a cooperative and cordial relationship to make meaningful contributions to the private sector and resolve issues such as access to finance, local content, and bilateral trade.

Moving forward, the GCCI will continue to heavily contribute to the development of the Private Sector Commission, and both organizations will work together to ensure the growth and success of the local business community in Guyana.
