GCCI participates in Beneficial Ownership Transparency Workshop

Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Junior Vice President, Mr. Gavin Ramsoondar, on Tuesday, May 7, represented the Chamber at a Workshop on the Implementation of Beneficial Ownership Transparency (BOT) Roadmap in Guyana, which was facilitated by the Ministry of Natural Resources through the Guyana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GYEITI).

The Ministry is currently implementing the BOT Roadmap for Guyana’s extractive industry in keeping with Guyana’s obligation as a member of the EITI (international Body) and the implementation of the International Standard which requires member countries under requirement 2.5 to collect beneficial ownership (BO) information and to make it publicly available.

A team of independent Consultants, which comprises Ms. Diane Barker, Mr. Michael Barron and Mr. Tim Law, are engaging stakeholders in the rollout of the BOT Roadmap for Guyana, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2024. During consultations stakeholders are sensitized about the EITI requirement, and to work out the modalities and processes necessary to meet the requirements in keeping with the EITI Standard.
