GCCI President encourages EU companies to partner with local businesses during EU Trade Mission Panel Discussion

President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr. Kester Hutson, on Tuesday, November 21, took part in a private sector panel discussion on “Transforming the Business Environment for a Sustainable Economy”, which was part of the EU Global Gateway Economic Mission being held at the Marriott Hotel from November 20 – 22.
Mr. Hutson was joined on the panel by Vice Chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Mr. Rafeek Khan, Chairperson of the Agro-Processing Committee at the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA), Ms. Earliecia Hieronymo, Member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana (WCCIG), Ms. Jenell Pinder, and Chairman of the EU Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Gregory Dean.
During the discussion Mr. Hutson spoke on the private sector structures that exists in Guyana, and how foreign companies can benefit from Guyana’s growing economy through partnerships with local companies. He also encouraged the foreign companies to become members of the local business support organisations (BSO) as this can play an important role in helping them to navigate the local business landscape.
Some 23 foreign companies from Europe took part in the trade mission. Following the panel discussion, a business to business segment was held between several local businesses and the visiting companies.
