GCCI meets with Crown Agents

On July 10, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr. Kester Hutson, met with representatives of Crown Agents, Business Development Manager, Ms. Jane Crouch and Senior Business Development and Field Projects Specialist, Ms. Kininki McKenzie.
Crown Agents is a non-profit organization that has been around for over 200 years and has been in the Caribbean and Latin America for 180 years. The British company offers procurement, capacity building and renewable energy services to name a few.
The company is aiming to expand its presence in Guyana, having already worked with the country in the procurement of vaccines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ms. Crouch highlighted that while the company is seeking to capitalize on the opportunities available in Guyana, she noted that profits earned from any venture of Crown Agents will be used for local development.
Renewable energy, climate sustainability, healthcare and capacity building would be some of the areas of focus here in Guyana. She also highlighted a Waste-to-Energy project that Crown Agents is undertaking in Barbados.
Mr. Hutson welcomed the company, noting that the Chamber would provide any guidance necessary to assist with establishing their presence in Guyana. He also welcomed the idea of the Waste-to-Energy project, noting that it would not only add to Guyana’s energy mix but also help boost tourism.
He also encouraged the company to join the GCCI which would not only add value to the Chamber, but also provide Crown Agents with vital information accessible via the Chamber.
