GCCI hosts session with membership discussing Gas to Energy Project

The Petroleum Committee of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Friday, October 13, held an informative session on Guyana’s Gas to Energy Project where presentations were made by the Honorable Minister of Natural Resources, Mr. Vickram Bharrat and Director of the Local Content Secretariat, Dr. Martin Pertab.
The interactive session was held in the boardroom of the GCCI’s Waterloo Street Office and saw over 80 of the Chamber’s members attending the meeting, in person and virtually. Joining Minister Bharrat and Dr. Pertab at the head table was Chair of the GCCI Petroleum Committee, and Senior Vice President, Mr. Richard Rambarran.
Also present from the GCCI Executive were the President, Mr. Kester Hutson, Junior Vice President, Mr. Gavin Ramsoondar and Secretary, Mrs. Kathy Smith. Several GCCI Council members also attended the session.
The session entailed presentations on the project overview, advantages for Guyanese, and progress achieved thus far. Following presentations by Dr. Pertab and Minister Bharrat, those in attendance were given the opportunity to ask questions and comment about the imminent monumental project, and the massive benefits it is projected to bring to the country.
During his remarks Minister Bharrat commended the GCCI for hosting the session, underscoring that the government is proud and happy of the relationship that it shares with the GCCI. Mr. Rambarran expressed the Chamber’s gratitude to the Minister and Dr. Pertab for taking part in the activity which was highly valuable to the Chamber’s membership, as businesses continue to align themselves with Guyana’s developing economy.
