GCCI Executive meets with JSE team after successful hosting of inaugural Guyana Investments and Capital Markets Conference
Members of the Executive Management Committee (EMC) on Thursday, October 6, met with a team of representatives from the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), led by Managing Director, Dr. Marlene Street Forrest.
The meeting was held to discuss opportunities for continued work between the two agencies following a fruitful collaboration between the GCCI and the JSE for the successful hosting of Guyana’s first Investments and Capital Markets Conference, which was held from October 3 – 4 at the Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre.
GCCI President, Mr. Kester Hutson and Secretary, Mrs. Kathy Smith, were present at the meeting.
Dr. Forrest described the Capital Markets Conference as an eye-opening experience, which highlighted the vast opportunities in Guyana. She conveyed the JSE’s gratitude to the GCCI for coming on board. Dr. Forrest also noted the advantages that the Capital Market can afford small and medium sized enterprises looking to source financing.
Mr. Hutson noted the need for business-to-business engagements, and the putting in place of a strategic plan that will guide the establishment of a longstanding relationship between the two sides.
