MoA inked between GCCI and GPF to increase training and improve service delivery

MoA inked between GCCI and GPF to increase training and improve service delivery

In a bid to strengthen a decades-long partnership and promote a safer Guyana, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) today in the GCCI’s boardroom.

The five-year MoA will see the GCCI assisting the GPF in critical areas such as customer relations, security management, financial management and accounting training, scholarships for youths and other support services/ that benefit the force. The GCCI will also assist the GPF with equipment procurement, community relations programmes, and other programmes that pique the force’s interest.

On the other hand, the MoA slates the GPF to render assistance via the provision of facilities necessary to accommodate training to members of the GPF and will also see them releasing selected members of the force to participate in activities offered by the Chamber.

Signing on behalf of the GCCI was the Chairperson of the Security and Governance Committee, Mr. Kester Hutson and the Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ (a.g.), Mr. Calvin Brutus, signed on behalf of the GPF. Also present were the Executive Director of the GCCI, Mr. Richard Rambarran; Secretary, Ms. Shaleeza Shaw; Head of the Strategic Planning Unit/Woman Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Nicola Kendall; and Head of the Corporate Communications Unit, Mr. Mark Ramotar.

The signing of this MoA follows a courtesy call that the Chamber’s Executive Management Committee (EMC) recently paid to the Commissioner of Police (a.g.), Mr. Clifton Hicken. During that engagement, both parties expressed sincere interest in elevating their partnership as they discussed strategies for crime prevention, improving service delivery to Guyanese, tackling gender-based violence, domestic violence, training and awareness, and traffic management.

The GCCI looks forward to expediting its functions under this MoA for a safer and progressive Guyana.
