Ms. Shaleeza Shaw, Secretary of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), participated in the International Day of Forests celebrations at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre. This year’s theme is “Forests and Health,” highlighting the crucial role that forests play in promoting human well-being and environmental sustainability.

At the event, the government, in collaboration with Demerara Bank, launched the $900 million revolving forestry fund. This initiative aims to address some of the challenges faced by the forestry sector, such as limited access to finance, the need for operational expansion, and low-cost financing, particularly for small and medium-scale operators.
