GCCI’s first-ever Small Business Expo dubbed a huge success in light of National Small Business Week

GCCI’s first-ever Small Business Expo dubbed a huge success in light of National Small Business Week

In collaboration with GTT Business Solutions, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) held its first-ever Small Business Expo to heighten the exposure of local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as Guyana’s economy continues its evolution following the 2015 oil find.

The initiative, which is part of the National Small Business Week, and its impact have been highly discussed since being hosted last Saturday at Parc Rayne, East Bank Demerara. Exhibitors, local media and persons from the general public have been lauding the Chamber for the opportunity-driven initiative that highlights what Guyanese businesses have to offer. The expo allowed over 40 MSME businesses to display and promote their various products and services and connect with fellow business owners/representatives, and they were all delighted to participate.

Many business owners/representatives at the expo were surveyed, and the GCCI was met with positive responses about the impact of the expo and even received calls for the hosting of another expo. In addition, some business owners sought to lobby for an “out of region” expo to connect MSMEs in the various administrative regions with the necessary exposure and clientele.

Being the first-ever Small Business Expo held by the GCCI, the buoyant support and feedback have provided the Chamber with insightful prospects for future initiatives.

Nevertheless, the NSBW is still ongoing via a series of webinars, community outreaches and incredible special discounts on products and services from the participating businesses. In addition, persons can keep abreast with the National Small Business Week being observed under the theme “Shop Small for a Big Impact” by following the GCCI’s Facebook Page and the NSBW website: http://nsbw.gcci.gy/.
