The President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Kester Hutson, along with Ms. Kathy Smith, Secretary, met with Dr. Martin Pertab, Director of the Local Content Secretariat on April 5, 2023.

The GCCI has been advocating for local content legislation since early 2017 and maintains a positive relationship with the Local Content Secretariat. This meeting marks a significant milestone as it introduces the newly elected Executive Management Committee and solidifies the Chamber’s commitment to advocating for local content. Ensuring continuity in this effort is crucial for the growth and development of the local business community.

Dr. Pertab expressed his satisfaction with the continued collaboration between the Chamber and the Secretariat, as there is still much to be accomplished before the full realization of local content. The Chamber, as a representative of the business community, can assist in ensuring that complaints and grievances are shared in a timely manner with the Local Content Secretariat.

Mr. Hutson expressed his gratitude to Dr. Pertab for meeting with the EMC and emphasized the productive relationship between the two agencies. The Chamber is committed to continuing its efforts to ensure that the local industry operates unhindered.
