The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Tuesday, January 16, presented its Special Local Content Award to Director of the Local Content Secretariat, Dr. Martin Pertab.

GCCI President, Mr. Kester Hutson handed over the award during a brief ceremony held in the Boardroom of the Local Content Secretariat’s Cowan Street Office. Mr. Hutson thanked Dr. Pertab for the critical role he continues to play in advancing local content in the oil and gas sector in Guyana, and commended his commitment to working hand in hand with the private sector to collaboratively develop local content.

Dr. Pertab expressed how honoured he felt at receiving the award. He described the award as a testament to the strong working relationship the Secretariat has maintained with the private sector, particularly the GCCI. Dr. Pertab underscored that the Secretariat will remain committed to working closely with the private sector to ensure that the ultimate goals and objectives under the Local Content Act are achieved.

First presented in 2022, the GCCI Special Local Content Award is issued annually to individuals who play a significant role in advancing local content in the oil and gas sector in Guyana.
