Executives of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Wednesday, February 21, met with Mr. Juan Pareja, Business Development Manager for RINA, a Columbian-based company that specializes in testing, inspection, certification, and engineering solutions across a wide range of markets, including marine, energy and mobility, real estate and infrastructure, space and defense, and Industry 4.0.

Held at the GCCI Waterloo Office, the meeting was attended by GCCI Junior Vice President, Mr. Gavin Ramsoondar, and Secretary, Mrs. Kathy Smith.

RINA is currently interested in expanding its operations to Guyana. Mr. Pajera met with the GCCI to discuss business opportunities available in Guyana, and to garner information on requisite procedures for the establishing of a company in Guyana. Mr. Pareja also noted that RINA is keen on being connected with local businesses that the company could partner with, in addition to companies that would be in need of the type of services provided by RINA. RINA has over 200 offices and laboratories and more than 5,600 employees around the world focused on simplifying complexities with a focus on energy transition, ESG and digitalisation.

Mr. Pareja walked the GCCI executives through the array of services and expertise provided by RINA, while the Mr. Ramsoondar and Mrs. Smith provided Mr. Pareja with an overview of Guyana’s business landscape and apprised Mr. Pareja on challenges and limitations facing Guyanese companies in the areas of labour and international certification across various sectors. Mrs. Smith spoke with Mr. Pareja on a number of agencies that he could work along with in Guyana, while Mr. Ramsoondar underscored that the Chamber looks forward to working along with RINA to see how members can benefit from the various training and certification services provided by RINA.
