GCCI kickstarts Week of Environmental Activities with participation in EPA’s ‘Green Walk’

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) saw a great jump start to its Week of Environmental Activities under the theme ‘Connect with Earth,’by participating in the ‘Green Walk’ hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in observance of ‘World Environment Day 2022‘.

Yesterday’s walk saw a tremendous turnout from our member companies and councillors, which signalled a great commitment from the local business community, to contribute to a greener and more sustainable society.

In honour of World Environment Day 2022,  the GCCI will be hosting a Week of Activities being observed from June 5 to June 11, 2022. The Chamber, through its Green Economy Committee has coordinated these activities to spread more awareness about the need for a greener Guyana and more sustainable practices. The activities  include but are not limited to the launching of the GCCI’s very own Eco Bingo, green business features, a webinar and a tree planting exercise.

According to the Chairperson of our Green Economy Committee, Ms. Shaleeza Shaw, the theme “Connect with Earth was specially selected  to harness a deeper appreciation of the symbiotic relationship between Earth and its inhabitants.
