On January 26, 2023, Councillors from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) attended the reception for the celebration of India’s 73rd Republic Anniversary at the Atlantic Ballroom, Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre.

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, delivered the feature address at the reception where he highlighted India’s “outstanding contribution” to the development of Guyana’s education system through scholarships, training, technology transfer and cultural evolution.

Guyana and India maintain a close and cordial relationship based on mutual understanding. Earlier this month, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) with the aim of fostering cooperation and understanding to promote bilateral trade and investment as well as business relations between India and Guyana.
