Several GCCI members attend opening of Second Annual Women in Law Enforcement Summit (WILES)

Several executives and council members of the Georgetown Chamber and Commerce and Industry (GCCI), including President, Mr. Kester Hutson, and Secretary, Mrs. Kathy Smith, attended the opening ceremony of the 2nd Annual Women in Law Enforcement Summit (WILES), which was held on Monday, March 11, at the Police Training Centre on Camp Road.
WILES is held as a collaboration between the GCCI, the Women’s Chamber of Commerce & Industry Guyana (WCCIG), and the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
Mrs. Smith delivered remarks at the event on behalf of the GCCI, discussing opportunities for women in business. Feature address at the event was delivered by Attorney-at-Law, and Vice-President of the Guyana Bar Association, Ms. Pauline Chase. WCCIG President, Ms. Rowena Elliott, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (ag), Calvin Brutus, also gave brief remarks at the event.
Others present from the GCCI included Chairperson of the Membership and Diversity Committee, Mrs. Kerensa Gravesande-Bart, Chairperson of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Committee, Mr. Evie Kanhai-Gurchurran, Chairperson of the Green Economy Committee, Ms Shaleeza Shaw, Vice-Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee, Ms Kristia Ramlogan, and Council Member, Mr. Keon Howard.
The Summit is being held as part of activities in honour of International Women’s Day. The event was celebrated under the theme “Inspire Inclusion: Advancing Women in Enforcement”.
