Reinvigorating our strategic partnerships – GCCI meets with the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Delegation attends British Chamber of Commerce Guyana launch

Throughout its existence, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has forged a number of strategic partnerships—local and international—that are aimed at advancing the interests of its membership. In 1996, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to promote trade and investment between Guyana and the United Kingdom through a collaborative effort. Recently, a delegation from the GCCI, including Councillor and Executive Member, Mr. Timothy Tucker; Councillor, Mr. Rayad Boyce, and Member, Mr. Ian Dhanraj met with the LCCI’s Head of International, Ms. Marta Kozlowska and several other officials of the London Chamber to explore the reinvigoration of that agreement.

The LCCI has over 9000 members, with Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises constituting a large part of the membership. The London Chamber has international members whom they assist with conducting business in London. Mr. Tucker updated the LCCI officials on the GCCI’s growth and development over the years and advocated for closer collaboration between the two chambers, with the aim of fostering partnerships between members and increasing trade relations. Through the discussions, the Georgetown Chamber was able to secure a discounted membership subscription rate for GCCI members to join the LCCI. The two parties also agreed to collaborate for their respective members to attend seminars and events being hosted in Guyana and London. The GCCI team also presented their London counterparts with copies of the Business Guyana Magazine and the Green Magazine.

While in London, the GCCI delegation also attended the launch of the British Chamber of Commerce Guyana.
