As we celebrate International Men’s Day on November 19, 2022, under the theme “Helping Men and Boys” we the women and your partners at the Chamber salute you, our male associates, on this deeply significant day.

We are conscious of the key role each of you play daily in aiding the Chamber to grow from strength to strength. The energy and steadfastness that you put into pushing policies and incentives in the interest of Guyanese businesses and Guyanese have not gone unnoticed given the many “Wins,” we have witnessed in the past eighteen-plus months. Your selfless sacrifices of time, family and other commitments in such endeavors are greatly appreciated.

The statistics of the Chamber which now boasts over 700 members indicate that 38% of our membership is now women-led. This could not have been achieved without your encouragement, guidance and confidence in us. The overwhelming propulsion for inclusiveness and respect for the role of women in the Chamber and society at large is both commendable and exemplary.

The theme “Helping Men and Boys” could not have been timelier as Guyana, under His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, activates the launch of MOM- Men on Mission on this very day. We see each of you as positive role models and coaches that can lead this charge and bring about transformative changes, in capacity building, paternal stewardship, mentorship, mental health and well-being, and sports.

As we magnify and celebrate the positive contributions men have made, adding value to their families, communities and the world at large; we recognize those fathers who take care of their children, wives, mothers, brothers and sisters. We equally recognize those men who are leaders in the workspace, who inspire, advocate for the less fortunate, speak out against harassment of any kind, promote staff morale, and are able to motivate many around them in big and small but meaningful ways.

In the words of Albert Einstein, “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”
