GAICO Construction commissions US$30 million Marine Facility in Nismes, WBD

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry extends hearty Congratulations GAICO Construction & General Services Inc, recipient of the GCCI’s 2023 Local Content Award, on the commissioning of their US$30 million Marine Facility in Nismes, West Bank Demerara on January 13.

The facility marks the realization of some 10 years of hard work, during which the facility was built out in different phases, which included eight acres of land reclamation work, and construction of a full concrete finger pier that can accommodate large international vessels up to 7m draft.

The facility’s features include a port facility for vessels (international and GAICO vessels), as well as provisions for materials and equipment offloading and storage, vessel maintenance, fabrication, lay down facility, and sand and aggregate supply.

This facility will drastically improve Guyana’s capabilities in marine operations, and general infrastructure development and marks another forward stride in supporting Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy project. This new venture comes after GAICO last year was awarded the contract to lay the onshore aspect of the Gas-to-Energy Project. The GCCI is heartened by the massive progress being made by GAICO and continues to encourage the company’s further development.
