GCCI Celebrates 125th Anniversary in 2014

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) observes its 125th Anniversary this year and will commemorate and celebrate this milestone with a menu of events and activities under the theme “Extension;” which signals our growth and expansion as an organisation.

Some of the activities include a scaled up Annual Gala Dinner; a Distinguished Lecture Series in collaboration with the University of Guyana; launching of a new secretariat building; a commemorative booklet; a day of service and the identification and recognition of 125 business persons who have contributed to the development of Guyana, among other initiatives.

As we reflect on our past with much affection and nostalgia, the GCCI cannot help but be excited and optimistic about its future. Although the Georgetown Chamber is the oldest and only statutory private sector representative organization in the country, it is still one of the most dynamic, respected and influential today. The Chamber remains a non-partisan organisation that is committed to Guyana’s social and economic development.
