GCCI attends reception in honour of Minister David Rutley and the launch of BRITCHAM Guyana Inc.

Mr. Kester Hutson, the newly elected President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, graced the Reception held in honour of the distinguished United Kingdom’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Americas and Caribbean Minister, David Rutley, and the launch of BRITCHAM Guyana Inc.

The event was hosted by the British High Commissioner to Guyana, Her Excellency Jane Miller, on the evening of Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the High Commissioner’s Residence in Bel Air.

The reception was a testament to the strong ties between Guyana and the United Kingdom, and the launch of BRITCHAM Guyana Inc. marked a new chapter in the two countries business relations.

According to Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), the Honourable Mark Phillips who also attended the event, the launch of BritCham will undoubtedly bring about mutual benefits for both nations and Guyana will now be better equipped to capitalize on the opportunities for expanding trade and tourism.

The inaugural flight of British Airways which landed in Guyana on March 27, 2023, is a testament to the developmental progress that Guyana has made as well as the potential for even greater achievements in the future. Moreover, the removal of the visa requirement by the British Government has made travel more accessible and convenient for our citizens.

The reception was also attended by Vice President, the Honourable Dr Bharrat Jagdeo; Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, the Honourable Dr Ashni Singh; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Honourable Hugh Todd; Minister of Amerindian Affairs, the Honourable Pauline Sukhai; Minister of Public Works, the Honourable Juan Edghill; and Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable Vickram Bharrat. Additionally, other distinguished Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and members of the private sector were also in attendance.

The reception was indeed a true representation of the diverse and influential individuals who are committed to the growth and development of our nation.
