The Petroleum Committee of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry will facilitate a presentation on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Standard. This presentation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 1 pm in the GCCI Boardroom.

Dr. Prem Misir, National Coordinator and Head, GYEITI National Secretariat will spearhead this initiative.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global standard that promotes transparency and accountability in the oil, gas, and mining sectors. It has a robust yet flexible methodology for disclosing and reconciling company payments and Government revenues in implementing countries. The EITI believes that a country’s natural resource wealth is the patrimony of its citizens.
In February 2017, the Government of Guyana established the GYEITI National Secretariat within the Ministry of Natural Resources. The Secretariat is tasked with carrying out the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of GYEITI.
