GCCI meets with UK-based energy company and Brazilian business development firm
Secretary of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mrs. Kathy Smith, on Thursday, February 22, met with a team of senior management officials from UK Based energy company Aggreko, and Brazilian business development firm, Multibrands.
The meeting was held at the GCCI Waterloo Street Office, where present from Aggreko were Latin America Utilities Manager, Mr. Hugo Ariel and Latin America Oil & Gas Manager, Mr. Daniel Dasilva. Present from Multibrands were Managing Partners, Arick Wierson, and Carlos Leao.
Aggreko specializes in providing clean energy solutions, and temporary power solutions with expertise in using solar and battery technology to provide energy solutions to remote areas unconnected to a central grid infrastructure. The company has over 6,000 employees worldwide with active projects in Brazil, the Caribbean, and throughout Central and South America.
Aggreko is planning to invest a significant amount of both finances and resources in Guyana, a move that would potentially employ hundreds of Guyanese and enable technology and knowledge transfer. The company was on a visit to Guyana to assess the market and better understand the needs and opportunities available in the country. During the meeting the company noted that it was very interested in the mining sector, and would appreciate a meeting with GCCI members currently involved in the mining sector.
Mrs. Smith conveyed the Chambers avidness to work along with Aggreko and connect the company with local companies where valuable collaborations could be formulated to benefit Guyanaโs economy.
