Today, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) received a Courtesy Call from the High Commissioner of Canada, His Excellency Mark K. Berman, and Senior Trade Commissioner and Counsellor (Commercial), Mr. Jake Thomas.
Areas discussed include strengthening trade ties between Canada and Guyana and areas of commercial interest, including agro-processing, tourism, and the extractive sector.
Both parties have agreed to work closely to promote opportunities for private-sector collaboration. Activities aimed at increasing the visibility of potential partnerships will include trade missions, participation in conferences, and other networking events.
The GCCI and the High Commission of Canada will also work together to broaden the scope of the existing partnership agreements between the GCCI and business associations in Newfoundland, Canada, with the aim of engaging other Canadian provinces and territories.
The GCCI looks forward to continuing a positive working relationship with the High Commission of Canada as it seeks to deepen trade relationships both regionally and internationally.
