Sensitization Session on Optimal Revenue Management Solution (Optimal RMS)
The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) held a virtual session on January 20th, 2021 to raise awareness of a new Tax Revenue Management solution which was launched on 28th February, 2021. The Secretariat’s staff along with members of GCCI attended the session. The new software – Optimal RMS – improves taxpayers’ experience when doing business with GRA by providing a convenient online service that allows taxpayers to submit returns online at any time, among other things. Mr. Sese Jones, of GRA, introduced the new software. Optimal RMS is a powerful and flexible tax revenue management system that increases taxpayer’s compliance and revenue collection; it improves customer service and interactions; and sets the platform for further innovation. Taxpayers can use Optimal RMS to file returns, view balances, receive notices, manage cases and create sub-accounts. A payment order is placed using the system and the payment is made at a commercial bank. The bank will then notify GRA of payments received, which will then be reflected in the system.
The use of paper-based forms to file taxes was highly discouraged. Companies were urged to encourage their employees to sign up with GRA’s new system. Participants were advised to use their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) as their Username when registering. More information can be found on the resource page: www.gra.gov.gy/optimal.
