PRESS RELEASE -Private Sector Assures USA Congressional Delegation of its Commitment to Free and Fair Election Process

Members of Guyanaโ€™s private sector reinforced their commitment towards ensuring a free and fair election process during a meeting with a visiting United States of America Congressional Delegation to Guyana which was held on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2020. The meeting was attended by President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer, Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Captain Gerry Gouveia and President of the American Chamber of Commerce of Guyana, Mr. Zulfikar Ally.

The visiting delegation comprised of Congressman Albio Sires (D-8, NJ), Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC), Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-5, NY), Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-9, NY), and United States Ambassador to Guyana, Sara Ann Lynch. Congressman Gregory Meeks serves as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 5th congressional district, which is home to a large population of the Guyanese diaspora.

Representatives of the GCCI, AmCham-Guyana and the PSC expressed their commitment towards encouraging an environment conducive to free, fair, inclusive and participatory elections on March 2nd, 2020.
