Local hardware and home decor enterprise, Innovations America receives ISO No. 9001:2015, No. 45001:2018 and No. 14001:2015 certifications.
On Thursday March 9, 2023, The Management of Innovations America hosted their ISO Certification Reveal Ceremony at the 704 Sky Longue for the following: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), ISO 45001:2018 (Safety) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental) Integrated Management Systems. Among those attending the event were Mr. Colin Croal, Minister of Housing and Water, and Dr. Ashni Singh, Senior Minister for Finance in the Office of the President.
President of the GCCI, Mr. Timothy Tucker, Councillor and Chair of the Construction Committee, Mr. Keon Howard and Advisor and Economic Consultant to the Chamber, Mr. Richard Rambarran were also present.
This is indeed a landmark in the company’s journey of continuously improving as they are now the first company in Guyana within the import and retail industry of Hardware, Plumbing, Electrical, Home Decor, Furniture and Household Appliances to be certified with an Integrated Management System by SGS, the leading global certification body.
Innovations America Managing Director Mr. Lorenzo Alphonso noted that the company has always sought to improve its service and product offerings since it was launched in 2016 and therefore becoming ISO certified was a logical next step. Meanwhile the Housing Minister Mr. Croal, in his brief remarks, spoke of the value this new certification brings to the housing and building sectors, of which Innovations America is a major supplier of hardware products. He reiterated the need for quality customer service and safety consciousness.
GCCI’s President, Mr. Timothy Tucker also delivered brief remarks and congratulated the member company on their stellar accomplishment.
Dr. Ashni Singh, delivered the keynote address and urged other businesses to follow in the footsteps of Innovations America as he said, “I would submit to you that it is the companies that up skill themselves and upgrade themselves and upgrade the standards in which they operate that push the envelope and push the boundary to explore new opportunities, I would venture to suggest to you that those are the companies that will survive and that will grow in this economy.” The minister posited that the investment in such an upgrade will be well worth it, especially in a growing and changing economy.
The event culminated with a cocktail party as the certificates were revealed by Minister Dr. Ashni Singh, The Managing Director of the company Mr. Lorenzo and ISO consulting firm Evo Business Solutions
