GCCI meets with new UN Resident Coordinator

Executive members of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on November 5 met with the new United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guyana, Ms. Jean Njeri Kamau, and Communications Officer of the Resident Coordinator’s Office, Mrs. Colette Hytmiah-Singh.
During the meeting on November 5 at the GCCI’s Secretariat, President of the Chamber, Mr. Kester Hutson; Senior Vice President, Mrs. Kathy Smith, and Secretary and Councillor, Mrs. Melisa McRae-George provided the Resident Coordinator with an overview of the GCCI’s history, role, accomplishments, and activities. The Executive Members also provided insights into the GCCI’s membership, as well as the capacity-building initiatives that are undertaken as part of the organisation’s work plan.
Ms. Kamau lauded the country’s development, particularly the positive development indicators. Discussions also touched on potential collaboration between the two organisations in the area of membership sensitisation on achieving and inculcating Sustainable Development Goals into their operations.
