GCCI collaborates with GRA to raise members’ awareness on tax obligations and compliance
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) continues to collaborate with government agencies and organisations to build the capacity of members in areas aligned to their business operations. On September 18, the Chamber partnered with the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) to provide businesses with valuable information in relation to taxation in Guyana.
Mr. Gavin Low, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Excise and Trade Operations; Mrs. Naresha Bobb-Sample, Senior Manager of Communication and Taxation Tax Advisory Services Unit; Ms. Carolita Edwards, Group Leader of the Tax Advisory and Publication Unit, and Ms. Susan Watson, a Tax Specialist, provided participants with pertinent information on taxation policies and regulations, compliance requirements for business and reporting best practices, and fielded questions on excise tax, income tax, corporation tax and duty, among other areas.
The hybrid session, which was organised by the GCCI’s Trade and Investment Committee, saw both in-person and online attendance of over 60 participants. This activity provided a platform for members to build their knowledge on tax responsibilities and to raise their concerns in relation to issues they face in these areas. The Chamber anticipates continued collaboration with the GRA to raise awareness and find solutions on matters that impact members within the purview of the agency.
