Election Day declared public holiday
The Ministry of Public Security today announced that pursuant to the provisions of Section 6 of the Public Holidays Act of the Laws of Guyana, the Minister has declared Monday, March 2nd, 2020 as a Public Holiday in observance of General and Regional Elections.
The announcement follows requests from private sector bodies for the day to be declared a national holiday in order to maintain law and order and to ensure unhindered access to and from polling places for eligible voters.
