INTRODUCTION
The Women in Maritime Association Caribbean (WiMAC) – Guyana Chapter Inc. is a non-profit professional organisation committed to promoting the participation, advancement, and leadership of women within Guyana’s maritime, shipping, and logistics sectors.
As part of the regional WIMAC network, the Guyana Chapter provides a national platform for mentorship, capacity–building, and advocacy, supporting increased gender inclusion across both sea-going and shore-based maritime professions.
Through initiatives such as the Nautical Club, the Girls in Maritime Afterschool Programme, industry forums, and the Women in Maritime Gala & Awards Ceremony, WIMAC Guyana works collaboratively with government and private sector stakeholders to expand opportunities for women and strengthen the development of an inclusive maritime workforce in Guyana.

To contribute to sustainable maritime development through the creation of an environment that promotes inclusivity, equal opportunities, and equitable treatment of women in the maritime industry.

OBJECTIVES
To provide a platform for Chaptering to increase the visibility of Guyanese women within the maritime industry. To establish a platform of sustained advocacy for gender equality, and the development of progressive legal frameworks that promote equality between men and women in the maritime industry.
To establish formal linkages between women in the sea-going and shore-based environments; promoting co–operation, and friendship through continuous knowledge exchange and information dissemination.
To provide mentorship to young female maritime professionals with the aim of enhancing participation, contribution, and retention, performance.
To collaborate and forge partnerships with public and private stakeholders to promote education and training, and increase awareness of, and provide support for women who are interested in pursuing maritime careers and contribute to sustainable economic development.
