Mrs. Evie Kanhai-Gurchuran

Mrs. Evie Kanhai-Gurchuran has been involved with Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) since 2016. She first became a member of the GCCI Council in 2022, and previously served as the Chairperson of the GCCI Entrepreneurship and Small Business Committee.
During her time at the GCCI, Mrs. Kanhai-Gurcharan has been an inspirational advocate for the involvement of women and youth in the private sector, with emphasized focus on promoting and supporting small businesses.
She has been pivotal in the development of the GCCI’s annual “National Small Business Week (NSBW), which was first held in 2022. She has a drive for garnering support and creating opportunities for the small business members of the GCCI.
Mrs. Kanhai-Gurchuran is herself a small business entrepreneur. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of two businesses, Java Coffee Bar Inc., of which she is also the founder, and Gurchuran Investments Inc. Mrs. Kanhai-Gurchurran has over 20 years of experience, and has a passion for contributing to the building out of the future of Guyana, and leaving a positive legacy.
She is a Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative fellow, and founded Girls Plus Tech. In 2022 Mrs Kanhai-Gurchuran won the GCCI Woman in Business of the Year Award. She also received a National Youth Award for Entrepreneurship in 2019 and the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in 2023.
