GCCI discusses visa requirement removal and collaboration with New Zealand High Commissioner

Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), President, Mr. Kester Hutson, and Senior Vice President, Mr. Richard Rambarran on Thursday, February 1, met with New Zealand Non-resident High Commissioner (designate) to Guyana, Ms. Linda Te Puni, at the GCCI Waterloo Office.
Discussion in the meeting saw the GCCI lobbying for the removal of the New Zealand visa requirement for Guyanese nationals, the setting up of a local New Zealand mission for the Caribbean region, and establishing a continued working relationship between the Chamber and New Zealand. The two sides also discussed the potential for collaborations in the areas of energy, climate smart agriculture, education and sports.
Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Te Puni was in Guyana to present my credentials to the government of Guyana and to CARICOM. She met with the business sector representatives looking to gain insights into the local business and economic environment.
