GCCI attends National Media Conference and Syposium in honour of World Press Freedom Day
To show support for World Press Freedom Day, Councillors of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) attended the National Media Conference 2022, which was held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre today.
It is being observed under the theme: Journalism under Surveillance, โPartnerships in Communication for Development -C4Dโ and was well attended by members of the public and private sector. The symposium featured montages, remarks, musical tributes and a featured address by H.E Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana.
Additionally, it was revealed that a new initiative, the Guyana Media and Communications Academy will soon be launched to increase the capacity of media workers in Guyana and it will be done in collaboration with the world-renowned online platform learning platform, Coursera. The GCCI was happy to show its support at the event and looks forward to the development of the local media workers who will benefit from the initiative.
