ABCE Diplomats concerned over credible allegations of electoral fraud; calls on President to avoid transition of gov’t

Following a joint statement issued last evening urging the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to complete the verification and tabulation process for Region Four, heads of the American, British, Canadian and the European Union (EU) Missions today declared that there are credible allegations of electoral fraud which could possibly influence the results of the the March 2nd election.

In the press statement, the Mission Heads, who served as observers, expressed deep concern over recent developments relative to the electoral process and called on all parties involved to ensure that proper procedures are in place to yield a credible election result.

The Mission Heads also called on President Granger to avoid a transition of government which they noted would be unconstitutional as it would be based on a vote tabulation process that lacked credibility and transparency.
