SUMMARY:Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Standard
DESCRIPTION:The Petroleum Committee of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry will facilitate a presentation on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Standard. This presentation will be held on Tuesday\, July 18\, 2023\, at 1 pm in the GCCI Boardroom. \nDr. Prem Misir\, National Coordinator and Head\, GYEITI National Secretariat will spearhead this initiative. \nThe Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a global standard that promotes transparency and accountability in the oil\, gas\, and mining sectors. It has a robust yet flexible methodology for disclosing and reconciling company payments and Government revenues in implementing countries. The EITI believes that a country’s natural resource wealth is the patrimony of its citizens.\nIn February 2017\, the Government of Guyana established the GYEITI National Secretariat within the Ministry of Natural Resources.
