Ron Webster saw opportunity where others did not – GCCI

(www.biznow.gy) The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) said Monday it was shocked and saddened at the passing of Private Sector Commission Chairman (PSC) Ronald Webster.

In a press release, the Chamber said, “Mr. Webster was certainly a visionary businessman and leader in the private sector who saw opportunity where others saw none. His contributions to the development of the business environment in Guyana have been enormous and they now present opportunities for learning in future generations.”

Tributes have been pouring in since news of Webster’s death surfaced on Sunday. Several government agencies, political parties and members of the private sector have since expressed condolences to his family, friends, the PSC and the management and staff of Caribbean Containers Inc (CCI). Webster was the Chief Executive Officer of CCI at the time of his death.

GCCI said his passing is an irrecoverable loss to the business world. “On behalf of the Council, Executive Management Committee and Members of the GCCI, we extend sincere condolences to his family, friends and employees of CCI.”

The PSC Chairman died on Sunday at the Balwant Singh Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
