Launching of the Membership Recruitment Video at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony

Speech delivered by the Senior Vice President and Chairman of the Membership Committee, Mr. Vishnu Doerga outlining the reasons why the Chamber pursued the production of a membership recruitment video at the recently held Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on December 4, 2014.

Mr. Chair, Your Excellency, Canadian High Commissioner, Dr. Nicole Giles, Honorable Finance Minister, Dr. Ashnie Singh, President of The GCCI, Mr. Lance Hinds, Members of the Diplomatic Corp, Distinguished Guests and most importantly our valued members. A pleasant good evening.

We are here this evening to recognize members of our chamber who have excelled this year. The recognition received is well deserved and will serve as an inspiration to many companies and executives to go above and beyond in their fields of expertise. Of course, with the full support of our chamber. To learn about how best online poker sites and poker websites works and educate how best poker sites operate. It must be noted that our chamber operations are completely member funded through membership fees, projects and events such as this evening’s. Every ounce of progress the chamber makes towards our mandate of private sector development benefits the entire private sector.

We are guided by our Mission Statement which proclaims: The GCCI represents the voice of the business community in Guyana and strives to advocate policies, stimulate trade and investment, connect businesses, sustain economic growth and expand member opportunities with the aim of contributing to a stable and sustainable economic and social environment in Guyana where businesses can prosper.

Over the past 125 years, the GCCI has delivered a fair level of services aligned with its mission. Services that have been funded by approximately 1 to 2 % of the number of registered businesses. This points to two noteworthy conclusions, one that we are extremely efficient at delivering service and two, just envision the level of service we will be able to deliver once our membership base increases. I must note that entry to our chamber is both simple and cost effective. An increased membership base will allow us to add more business support services to our secretariat, empirically analyze economic, legislative and other matters, provide more holistic economic guidance at a national level and become a truly equal partner to our governmental, international and civil society partners.

However, since neither Rome nor Guyana, was built in a day, we are cognizant of the work that lies before us. We look forward to your support in sharing with other businesses, the benefits our organization has to offer. This evening we present to you, one component of our plan to increase the awareness and interest among businesses of the importance of joining the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ladies and Gentlemen, our first membership recruitment video…..
