B. Bhaichandeen Limited was founded in 1961 by Mr. Balram Bhaichandeen. It is one of the first companies incorporated in Guyana. Mr. Balram Bhaichandeen had a vision to provide downtown Georgetown with top class accommodation, entertainment and convenient shopping. He turned that vision into reality in 1961, and established a Hardware, Electrical, General and Haberdashery Store.

The Hotel Penthouse was established in 1965, and in 2006 was renamed Le Grand Hotel Penthouse.
